Occasionally, I receive inquiries about my last name and why I have chosen it as my brand. Duveroth is not just my last name; it also represents me and everything I stand for - an ongoing inner journey.
This name was awakened in me during a meditation in 2008. I was at a turning point in my life, freshly divorced and set to move in a new direction. After checking with the registrar's offices, I found that the name was available to apply for. I did so, and it was approved.
Duveroth combines two Swedish words: "duva" (dove) and "rot" (root).
The dove symbolizes freedom, peace, purity - a soul that soars high, overcomes obstacles, and always finds its way home.
The root signifies our true origin, the deep and unfathomable core within us that provides strength and direction.
At that time, I had no idea of the journey I was about to embark on to become the rooted dove. To fly boundlessly high, I first needed to be fully rooted - within myself. It was my way of becoming the dove that always returns "home."
The deeper we look within ourselves and find our innermost root and true origin, the more we connect with the forces that liberate us from fear and allow us to soar even higher.
The opposites - the earthly and the heavenly, the internal and the external - open up to each other in a harmonious dance. In this dynamic interplay, we find the balance between being deeply rooted in our essence while striving to reach infinite heights.
Thus, Duveroth becomes not just a symbol of my identity but also a metaphor for the journey towards self-awareness, freedom, and inner peace.
Several years later, as if by fate, a small dove appeared on my path. This gentle creature entered my life and graciously allowed itself to be photographed, both indoors and outdoors.
Through this new experience, I learned the sensation of a dove digging its claws into my skin to balance on my shoulder as I moved - a poignant reminder of the delicate balance between holding on and letting go. The dove, embodying its innate freedom, could leave at any moment, and after a week, it did just that. Though it departed, it left behind enduring memories and a reinforced connection to the essence of the Duveroth spirit.
The photographs capture the beautiful moments shared with the dove, each one representing the free spirit that graces our lives for only a moment, yet leaves a profound impact.
