After walking through the depths of grief, it feels as though I have reached a new point in my journey. The grief that once filled my heart has quieted, making room for something else – melancholy. A gentle echo of what once was, a reminder that everything we experience leaves its mark.
Letting go of relationships, both in this and other dimensions, has been an essential part of my path. Some bonds have been deep and strong, especially those stretching across multiple lifetimes and dimensions. Releasing these relationships has been a sorrow, but also a necessity to live in the present. I have placed these bonds and dreams in a memory bank, where they no longer affect me emotionally. They remain as memories, not burdens.
Even though the sorrow has lifted, there are still a few tears of melancholy. Melancholy is not the same as sorrow. It is softer, quieter. A feeling of longing, but without the pain. The tears of melancholy no longer sink deep; they rest lightly on the surface, ready to flow away. It is a reminder of what has been, but also a sign that I have moved on. Melancholy arrives in moments of stillness, when I look back and reflect on what I have let go of.
In melancholy, I have found a quiet peace. It is a sense of relief, but also an understanding that nothing lasts forever. Melancholy is like the dewdrops on a fallen oak leaf. The oak represents strength and stability, and even as the leaf withers and falls, it still carries beauty. The dew, like tears, shows that even the heavy can be beautiful and that letting go doesn’t always have to be painful.
Melancholy carries both the heavy and the light. Letting go of relationships, dreams, and old bonds is not easy, but it also creates space for something new. It is here, in this balance between weight and lightness, that I have found my peace. Melancholy is not something I want to flee from, but something I welcome as part of life’s cycle. It is a reminder that we can carry both the past and the future with the same lightness as we carry a fallen leaf.
The leaf has fallen and now rests on the ground, bathed in light. The final tears lie lightly on the surface, no longer sinking in, ready to roll off—a reminder that the weight no longer remains deep within.
